BIZULU.com the new online shopping site offering fast auctions on more than one million consumer products, today announced that it is giving charitable, nonprofit organizations (those with 501c3 status) and those fundraising for those organizations, the opportunity to use its site free of charge to raise donations.
Nonprofits have two fundraising options with Bizulu.com: they can offer their own donated items to bidders or access the vast array of electronics, gift cards, sporting goods and other consumer products available through Bizulu.com and have the proceeds go directly to their charity.
Bizulu.com shopping auctions last only 10 minutes and offer a fresh new angle by allowing blitzing or lowering competitors bids. Auction items, which generally sell between 30 and 80 percent off retail rates, vary each day. Bidders buy credits to enter each auction with an average entry cost ranging between $ 1.00 and $ 7.00. Bizulu.com tweets (http://www.twitter.com/bizulu) and posts updates on its Facebook page about upcoming auction items.
Brendan Smith, President and CEO of Bizulu.com said, Gone are long, drawn-out, boring auctions where bidders frequently have to check their status over a period of hours or days. He added, Bizulu.com auctions offer shopping and entertainment in the same experience. For Generation Instant Gratification this means they can purchase brand new products at generously discounted prices and have fun at the same time. Smith noted that Bizulu.com also offers a bid-free, buy now option. Credits used to enter the auction are applied to the buy now price so bidders dont lose any money even if they lose the auction.
At present only charitable non-profits and their fundraisers are able to offer their own items for auction a benefit that is expected to be expanded to the general public in the future.
Were excited to offer our site for free to nonprofits and fundraisers. The economy has taken its toll on everyone, but on charities in particular, said Smith. We want to do our part to help. By giving these organizations access to a new fundraising tool Bizulu.com hopefully we can help them increase their donor pool and donations.
Since launching in October 2011, Bizulu.com has nearly 500 registered bidders. Registering with Bizulu.com is free. In order to encourage new bidders to sign up on the site, Bizulu.com is giving away two free iPad2 3G + WiFis. One of the two iPad2s is specifically designated to go to a student who registers with an .edu email address. The drawing will take place on New Years Eve, December 31, 2011.
*No purchase necessaryOpen to US residents only. The .edu email winner must currently be enrolled in an institute of higher learning. Winners will be announced on 12/31/2011 online only.
